Goodbye to Summer and Broadway!

It’s official! “War Paint” will be closing on December 30th, 2017.

It lacked award recognition in a very crowded Broadway season, but still managed to outlast other musicals who had garnered better accolades. One thing is assured; Regional Theaters will be presenting their local divas performing the plum roles of Arden and Rubinstein for audiences to enjoy for many years to come.

“Yellow the wet wild strawberry leaves”

The title of this post is from William Butler Yeats poem “The Falling of the Leaves.”

I’m familiar with the piece after recording my one and only album in the mid 1990’s; a masterful art song cycle composed by John Aschenbrenner entitled “To An Isle in the Water: The Poetry of William Butler Yeats.”
